Point Cook make tilt at top-four

Point Cook is knocking on the door of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association north-west B1 top four after a nail-biting six-run win over Williamstown Imperials at Saltwater Reserve on Saturday.

The Warriors batted strongly to make 9-191 off 40 overs, with Jack Bolam and captain Chris Armstrong making 47 apiece.

Point Cook managed to hold on for a victory, restricting Imperials to 5-185 off their 40 overs.

Wyndhamvale is all but out of finals contention after a heartbreaking nine-run loss to Newport-Digman at Wyndhamvale Reserve.

Set 186 for victory, the Falcons were bowled out for 175, with David Warnock the shining light of the innings with 58 off 46.

Earlier in the day, Falcons bowler Justin Davies took 5-30.

In north west A1, Werribee Centrals came up 41 runs short against St Francis de Sales at Galvin Park. Needing 201 for victory, the Centurions hit 8-159.
