Cancer Council Victoria is encouraging Victorians, including those in Wyndham, to host an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and make a cuppa for a cancer-free future this May or June.

Since 1993, passionate people around the country have raised more than $200 million for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, enabling Cancer Council to continue its vital mission of a cancer-free future.

All donations fund Cancer Council’s life-saving research, prevention, screening and treatment programs, and provide support services such as the free 13 11 20 phoneline for those affected by cancer.

Cancer Council Victoria’s Head of Fundraising Lyrian Fleming-Parsley said that if there was ever a year to host or join a morning tea, this 30th birthday year is it.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is turning 30 this year!” she said.

“For three decades, thousands of amazingly generous Victorians have hosted a morning tea in their homes, at work, or in their community raising well over $200 million for cancer research, prevention and support, and that’s something worth celebrating.

“It’s been amazing to see it grow over the years and become one of the most-loved fundraising events in our community.

“One in two Australian’s will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. By making a cuppa during an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, you’re helping to support life-saving research, prevention, screening and treatment programs.

“Everyone loves coming together for a cuppa! It’s incredible to see the progress being made thanks to generous donations to Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, which has helped to fund ground-breaking cancer research throughout the years, leading to many life-saving discoveries.”

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea also helps fund Cancer Council’s vital 13 11 20 Information and Support Line, accommodation, counselling, and peer support programs helping people living with cancer every day.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea will officially be held on Thursday, 25 May, however, people can register to host any time throughout May or June.

“We urge all Victorians to join the birthday celebrations and host a morning tea, and make yourself a cuppa for a cancer-free future this May or June,” Lyrian said.
