Wyndham remains a virus hotspot

The number of active coronavirus cases among Wyndham residents increased by 13 overnight, rising from 120 cases yesterday to 133 cases today.

The Wyndham municipality remains a virus hotspot, with the second-highest number of cases in the state.

Only Hume, which includes Broadmeadows and Craigieburn, has more active coronavirus cases than Wyndham.

To date, Hume residents have been diagnosed with 143 active COVID-19 cases.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Victoria has recorded 165 new cases of the coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 3098 across the state.

Thirty of the new cases are linked to known outbreaks and 135 are under investigation.

Six new cases have been linked to the Al-Taqwa College outbreak. A total of 113 cases have now been linked to the Truganina school.

The DHHS has also reported four COVID-19 cases have been linked to the Catch.com Distribution Centre in Truganina.

In a separate case, a staff member from Benetas St George’s in Altona Meadows attended work while infectious.
