The cause of a fire which engulfed a Truganina pallet factory on Tuesday afternoon is being investigated.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at about 3.45pm on April 23 following multiple calls to triple-0

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews arrived on the scene to find flames and smoke being emitted from the factory and initially fought the blaze from a distance using water cannons.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were eventually able to enter the building and bring the fire under control about 45 minutes after their arrival.

One person was safely evacuated from the factory before emergency services arrived. No injuries were reported.

The fire was contained to the mezzanine level of the factory and specialist fire investigators are attending the scene on Wednesday to determine the cause.

A community advice message has been issued for ‘Smoke in the area’.
