Werribee houses snapped up

Werribee houses are the fastest-selling in Wyndham, with properties in the suburb on the market for an average of just over four weeks.

According to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, of Wyndham suburbs that had a minimum of 20 sales or more last year, Werribee houses remained on the market for an average of 29 days. There were 188 sales in Werribee in that time.

Tarneit placed second on the REIV list with a median of 30 days on the market and 176 sales.

Truganina houses were on the market for an average of 33 days (80 sales) and Hoppers Crossing 34 days (123 sales).

Point Cook’s median was 59 days on the market (579 sales) and Williams Landing 95 days (38 sales).

In comparison, homes in Melbourne’s entire metropolitan area remained on the market for an average of 32 days last year.

Hockingstuart Point Cook director Scott Perry said that Point Cook logged a longer sales time because of the inclusion of bigger, more expensive properties in Sanctuary Lakes.

Mr Perry said that most properties for sale in Sanctuary Lakes were higher-end, large homes that had a narrower client base than many other suburbs in the west.

He said that according to Domain.com, his agency had sold houses in Point Cook within an average of 29 days in the past 12 months – the quickest median for “days on the market” in Point Cook of all agents.

Mr Perry said he believed the housing market was going to continue booming.

“I think that we are going to see the average days on the market drop across the coming months,” he said.
