Tim Pallas secures Werribee

Werribee Labor MP Tim Pallas is expected to retain the seat of Werribee after obtaining 41.9 per cent of first preference votes.

Fifteen candidates ran for the seat, including Wyndham councillor Mia Shaw who represented the Liberal party.

Mr Pallas secured 14,792 first preference votes, Ms Shaw received 8,433 first preference votes (23.9 per cent), Greens candidate Jack Boddeke obtained 2114 first preference votes (six per cent) and Independent candidate Paul Hopper received 2058 first preference votes (5.8 per cent), according to the Victorian Electoral Commission.

On a two party preferred basis, Mr Pallas secured 72.43 per cent of the vote, a total of 19,089 while Mr Hopper amassed 7266 votes, or 27.6 per cent of the vote.

“It’s a true honour to be re-elected as your local Member, and I look forward to representing you in the Parliament of Victoria for another term,” Mr Pallas said.

“Labor has delivered for Werribee, and your decision in this election will ensure that we keep doing what matters for this wonderful community.”

The Werribee seat includes the suburbs of Wyndham Vale, Werribee, Manor Lakes, Mambourin and parts of Hoppers Crossing and Little River.
