Being able to help patients is Enrico’s favourite part about being a nurse.

The 48-year-old is a theatre floor coordinator associate nurse unit manager at St Vincent’s hospital in Werribee.

“My role involves coordinating and planning, ensuring everything runs smoothly with our staff, patients and surgeons,” Enrico said.

His career began in 1999, after he migrated to Australia from the Philippines.

Enrico says the most challenging part of his role is staffing.

“Another challenge is balancing work and family, and sometimes the role require me to work long hours. I live nearby so that’s a bonus,” he said.

For this years International Nurses Day, Enrico hopes other healthcare professionals and hospital workers know how important they are.

“I think the word ‘respect for our profession’ comes to mind. I feel supported here by all our team and staff, from our cleaners to our Executive team,” he said.

“Everyone’s role is critical in the overall outcome.”
