Train station car parks in Melbourne’s western suburbs have received a major upgrade, including in Wyndham Vale where 380 spaces will soon be open to commuters.

At Wyndham Vale Station, 380 new and upgraded spaces will be ready for use next month, increasing capacity by around 40 per cent for the 350,000 commuters using the station each year.

“Wyndham Vale is booming and these new spaces will mean more people can park at their local station without having to try their luck further up the line,” Werribee MP Tim Pallas said.

New bicycle parking facilities, improved lighting and CCTV will also be delivered as part of the project with additional landscaping to be provided at the site.

The works are part of the state government’s Car Park for Commuters program, delivering new and upgraded car parks across the state.

“Not only have we delivered more than 1,200 new and upgraded spaces across three stations in the west, but we’ve also made it easier and safer to catch the train,” Public Transport minister Ben Carroll said.

In Caroline Springs, 400 new and upgraded spaces were recently completed, doubling the capacity for commuters.
