The Kulin Dreaming Music Fest, Wyndham’s first free indigenous music festival, will be held this Saturday in Hoppers Crossing.
The festival will feature a wealth of indigenous talent, including rapper Briggs, Alice Skye, MC Philly, DRMNGNOW, Pirritu (Brett Lee) and Maylene, along with artist workshops, food trucks and more.
Wyndham cultural diversity portfolio holder Henry Barlow said the event was an exciting part of the council’s National Reconciliation Week program.
“Kulin Dreaming Music Fest is a great way to celebrate indigenous talent, strength and resilience – bringing people together to dance up a storm,” Cr Barlow said.
“With major headline acts and top emerging talent, this is a great opportunity for our city’s young people, in particular, to enjoy live music from some of their favourite artists.
“Wyndham has a rich and vibrant Aboriginal community … this inaugural event is an important way to celebrate and connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.”
The Kulin Dreaming Music Fest will be held at the Encore Events Centre. Parental supervision is required for people under the age of 12, with a coarse language warning. Tickets are free, but bookings are required.
