Coronavirus count tops the state

Wyndham residents have been diagnosed with the highest amount of active COVID-19 cases in the state, as of today.

There are now 249 active cases of the virus among Wyndham residents (compared to 231 active cases yesterday).

Hume, in the north-western suburbs, has the second-highest amount of active cases in Victoria, at 235.

Overall, Victoria has recorded 238 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 4448.

Twenty-nine of the new cases are linked to outbreaks and 209 are under investigation.

One new death has been reported since yesterday, a woman in her 90s who died in hospital. To date, 27 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), 105 Victorians are in hospital with the virus, including 27 patients in intensive care.

The DHHS is reporting that 150 cases of the virus have been linked to Al-Taqwa College in Truganina.

More than 21 cases have been linked to the JBS abattoir in Brooklyn, and four cases have been linked to Waste Equipment and Hiab Services, Ardeer.
