Spring cleaning season has arrived, and what better way to offload your under-used and unwanted goods than to host a garage sale.

Wyndham council is calling on residents to do just that on October 20-21 when it participates in the nationwide Garage Sale Trail.

More than 400,000 people across the country are expected to sell or buy pre-loved household items over that weekend, saving them from being sent to landfill.

Wyndham council environment and sustainability portfolio holder Heather Marcus, pictured, said the average garage sale host made $370 by selling off their goods.

“Not only is it a great way to make some extra cash, declutter your house and meet your neighbours, you will also be doing your bit for the environment by stopping items that can still be used from going to landfill,” she said.
