Attempted robberies and assaults in Tarneit

A mother was punched in front of her young daughter during one of two attempted robberies and assaults in Tarneit yesterday.

Police said a 15-year-old boy kicking a soccer ball at a Moondara Street park was approached by two youths about 5.50pm.

It’s alleged when the teenager said that he didn’t have a wallet he was punched in the face by one of the youths, who then fled the scene.

A short time later, a mother and her seven-year-old daughter  were approached by two youths in Calita Avenue.

Police said the youths asked the woman for money and tried to snatch her handbag.

When the woman refused to let go of her bag, one of the youths punched her twice in the head.

The youths fled the scene when the woman and her daughter began screaming.

Police are looking for two males,  perceived to be of African appearance,  about 175 to 180 centimetres tall and of a thin build. They were wearing dark clothing and are believed to be aged 15 to 17 years old.
