Young performer Georgia Belle Velleley will move to New York in September, to follow her
acting dreams.
Velleley, a Williams Landing resident, has been accepted into a full-time two-year course at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
The studio is almost as famous as its former students, including Marlon Brando, Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro, Salma Hayek, Warren Beatty and Mark Ruffalo.
Last year Velleley, 20, attended a Sydney audition for Stella Adler Studio, which holds annual try-outs across Australia, Canada and the US.
Velleley said the news that she had been accepted into the studio was “very exciting”.
Velleley has previously completed a 10-week course at Stella Adler in 2015.
“I learnt a lot about acting and myself, and that’s why I’m really excited to be going back,” she said.
Performing runs in Velleley’s blood. Her parents met while attending an acting school, while her grandmother Nanette Frew is a well-known Australian musical theatre and stage actress and director.
Velleley said her ultimate dream was to star in Broadway musicals, theatrical shows and films.
She said the biggest obstacle she faced in heading to New York was the fact that she would be on a student visa, which would not permit her to work while in America.
Before leaving for the US, she is working at Luna Park to help save money for her travel and living costs.
Velleley has also set up an online fundraising page in the hope of raising $15,000 to help out.
