IN FOCUS: Avalon Airport – gateway to the East

Phuket, Bali, Manila, Honolulu, Amritsar, Shanghai, Jaipur, … these are just a few of the more than 130 destinations AirAsia connects to from Kuala Lumpur.

By the end of the year, Wyndham region residents will be able to travel direct to KL from Avalon Airport and then easily on to these and other gems.

AirAsia – voted at Skytrax World Airline Awards 2017 as the world’s best low-cost airline for the ninth consecutive year – has made it a mission to fly to cities other airlines do not.

Avalon Airport chief executive Justin Giddings says this makes it an adventure for everyone.

“From street food to luxury resorts, from art and culture to world sporting events, from visits back home to some of the best surf beaches in the world, AirAsia ensures that everyone can travel, whatever the budget,” he says.

AirAsia’s A330 offers an array of seating options. These include Standard and Quiet Zone, as well as its award-winning Premium Flat Bed experience.

The Premium Flat Bed experience has luxuries such as complimentary meals, privacy screen, duvet and pillow, and 40 kilograms of baggage, as well as access to AirAsia’s Premium Red Lounge when connecting through its hub in Kuala Lumpur.

AirAsia Group chief executive Tony Fernandes believes the combination of low-cost fares and an outstanding airport makes a perfect match.

“Our move to Avalon will translate to lower fares for travellers, allowing more people to fly between Australia and Southeast Asia,” he says.

“We believe the time is now – and momentum is building.”

Mr Giddings adds: “The less than 20-minute drive from Werribee to Avalon is virtually a straight line on a toll-free road and Avalon’s parking is all out the front of the terminal. There’s also a dedicated SkyBus stop in Werribee. The check-in processes are efficient and luggage retrieval simple and quick.

“Avalon’s international terminal is under construction as we speak and will house state-of-the-art customs facilities and simple comfort by the end of the year.

“With over 130 destinations across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the US it is safe to say that a trip with AirAsia out of Avalon Airport will be a fantastic adventure.”
