Mural celebrates tower’s history

A disused concrete water tower in the Werribee CBD has been turned into an art exhibition.

A partnership between the state government, Arts Assist and Southern Rural Water has resulted in a giant mural being painted on the surface of the tower.

Werribee MP Tim Pallas visited the site last week with local artist Hayden Dewar and Arts Assist to acknowledge the artwork that celebrates the heritage and significance of the water tower for the municipality.

“The water tower is well known to everyone in Werribee and this exciting artwork completed by Hayden Dewar and Arts Assist, have made it a tourist landmark that locals can be even more proud of,” Mr Pallas said.

“Congratulations to the project management team and to Hayden for sharing his talents with the local community by creating the mural for all to enjoy.”

The artwork highlights the water tower’s important role in the growth of Werribee.
