Young Point Cook actor Rohan O’Kane has taken the first step towards becoming a professional actor.

After his first-ever audition, nine-year-old Rohan (pictured) was cast in a short film being made by students from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).

Rohan spent three days filming on location near Kew during the recent school holidays, playing the role of a schoolboy.

His friend Lorcan plays the lead role in the film, of a boy who “thinks he is cool but everyone else thinks he is a bit different”.

“I liked the filming and learned a lot from it, like not to look at the camera but sideways – and I loved the food on set,” Rohan said.

Rohan said the film had not yet been released, but he was looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Both Rohan and Lorcan attend classes at Adam Turnbull Acting (ATA) in Altona Meadows.

Rohan said he started with ATA at the beginning of the year, and had decided that he would like to become an actor in the future.

“I’d like to do stage and film,” he said.

“I’d like to work on a movie like

Toy Story 4 and do a voiceover, or something like that.”

Rohan said he also enjoyed playing piano, attending Scouts and sailing.
