Great effort for kids’ cause

Wyndham threw its support behind this year’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal with the Werribee, Wyndham Vale and Point Cook fire brigades collecting more than $105,000 locally. CFA members were supported by Scout groups, St John Ambulance and Werribee South coast guard and businesses, which donated items for raffles and auctions, along with Bakers Delight, which provided the hot cross buns, and the Commonwealth Bank, which counted the money.

Leisure means jobs

More than 250 new jobs have been created to run Wyndham’s three major leisure and aquatics facilities: Werribee Olympic outdoor pool, Eagle Stadium (Werribee sports and fitness centre) and the AquaPulse and Encore Events Centre (Wyndham leisure and events centre), the latter two due to reopen mid-year. Western Leisure Services, part of Wyndham council, is recruiting for managers and operators at the three centres, including lifeguards, swimming teachers, fitness instructors and customer service assistants.
