Home buyers head north

Wyndham’s northern fringe is about to expand, with work to start on an 820-house development in Tarneit.

The 65-hectare Habitat on Davis Creek development, on the corner of Sayers and Davis roads, is part of the Riverdale precinct structure plan approved by the Metropolitan Planning Authority last June. Davis Creek passes through the centre of the site; more than 150 lots will front the waterway.

The estate is being built by Satterley Property Group, which is also developing the New York-themed Upper Point Cook.

Satterley state general manager Jack Hoffmann said stage one of construction includes 54 lots, roads, landscaping works, a display village and a permanent sales office. “It’s exciting to be first out of the blocks at Riverdale and great news for buyers who have opted in early,” he said.

The first stage of construction is expected to take about 20 weeks and create about 50 jobs, with more jobs becoming available once construction progresses and stage one landscaping works begin in July.

“We will use local contractors and providers wherever possible,” Mr Hoffmann said. “With Tarneit’s population expected to grow by more than 25,000 by 2031, there’s a strong need for quality residential communities.”

The estate will include a town centre and schools, both to be serviced by the Tarneit regional rail link station, opening in June.
