Two children have been rescued from a house fire in Werribee this morning.
Triple-0 call takers received several calls for a house fire in Ruby Place just before 8am on Thursday, May 16 with reports of two children inside in the property.
Ambulance Victoria paramedics released the children when they arrived on scene.
A third child was unaccounted for and fire crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the burning building and conducted a search, but the child had already left for school.
The single-storey brick veneer home was well alight when fire
crews arrived on scene just after 8am.
Fire crews had the blaze under control by 8:29am, 23 minutes after their arrival.
The fire started on a cooktop, which then spread to the rangehood and into the roof
space causing considerable damage to the home.
Smoke alarms alerted the neighbours that there was a fire adjacent to them, but no damage to neighbouring properties was detected.
The two children were transported to hospital for observation and assessment.
