Police hunt Hoppers Crossing playground attacker

Police are appealing for witnesses to an altercation between a man and a seven-year-old boy at a Hoppers Crossing playground on October 23.

The boy was playing on a swing set just after 3pm when he was approached from behind by an unknown man.

Police allege the man began pushing the boy on the swing before pushing him to the ground.

This was followed by a scuffle between the pair in which it is believed the boy bit the man on the hand.

Police said the man ran off and the boy ran home and reported the incident to his parents, who called police.

Wyndham criminal investigation unit’s Detective Sergeant Dennis Williams urged anybody who saw the incident to come forward.

The man is described as tall, of thin build and with ginger/blonde hair.

He was wearing a long-sleeved blue top at the time of the incident and may have been carrying a yellow backpack.

Anyone with information is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
