Wyndham council has been recognised for its efforts in highlighting the dangers of heart disease and has been named a finalist in the 2014 Heart Foundation local government awards.
The nomination recognises three initiatives: the Healthy Communities program, the Get Wyndham Moving campaign and Point Cook’s Saltwater Reserve.
Heart Foundation Victoria chief executive Diana Heggie said heart disease was the single biggest killer of Australians, both men and women.
Winners of the awards will be announced on October 23.
