As Werribee Open Range Zoo works hard to save wild gorillas, two young brothers have heard its call to arms and joined the fight.
Eight-year-old Joshua Del Papa and his six-year-old brother, Anthony, are trying to recycle 1000 old mobile phones to support Zoos Victoria’s conservation campaign, They’re Calling On You.
The campaign raises awareness about the impact of coltan mining on gorilla habitats and diverts mobile phones from landfill.
So far the boys have almost 50 phones.
Last week they visited Werribee Zoo to help celebrate the collection of the 100,000th phone as part of the campaign.
