Wyndham Harbour: Cafes, shops set for ‘leisure destination’

Cafes and shops could be added to Wyndham Harbour with the aim of creating a new ‘leisure destination’ in the west.

Developer Lyons Residential has started work on a waterfront marina apartment building that includes retail space.

The building is expected to be finished in May next year.

Burgess Rawson Real Estate associate leasing director David Mark said the inclusion of retail spaces at Wyndham Harbour would provide businesses with an opportunity to make a mark in Australia’s fastest-growing municipality.

“With Melbourne’s west largely landlocked with no marinas beyond Williamstown, Wyndham Harbour will provide the perfect backdrop for a new, exciting coffee, food and leisure destination in the west,” Mr Mark said. The retail spaces have been designed to include elevated outdoor dining areas.

Lyons Residential chief executive John Roysmith said his dream was to create a development that attracted visitors to the western suburbs. He said a proposed
ferry service between Werribee and Port Melbourne might encourage businesses to open stores in Werribee South.
