Stamp of approval for MacKillop College’s Celina Harrower

Celina Harrower is one of five designers vying to have their commemorative stamps produced for next year’s G20 Summit.

The year 11 MacKillop College student is the only Victorian in the competition, which called for stamp designs ahead of the economic summit to be held in Brisbane in November next year.

Her design was entered on behalf of MacKillop College, after visual communication and design teacher Silvio Mannello judged it to be the best produced by his students.

“Celina’s design was probably the most unique,’’ he said. ‘‘Designing for this theme was not easy because many people don’t know what [the G20 Summit] is. Past stamps for the summit have been abstract.”

Harrower based her stamp on a photograph of Brisbane and tried to include the themes of reflection and inclusion. It took her about a month to design.

She said she was shocked to discover her stamp had been shortlisted for production.

Voting closes on November 30, with the winner to be announced in early December.
