Werribee’s rollercoaster ride in Bowls Victoria division 1 shows no signs of abating.
The Bees’ up-and-down form continued with an 84-78 home win over a strong Elsternwick outfit at Chirnside Park on Saturday.
Their home record stands at 3-0, but the numbers are reversed when they play away from Watton Street.
Bees skip Snowy Barker said it was the best win of the season to date.
“They were third on the ladder so it’s a good win, but we expect to win every game at home,” he said.
“It got a bit close towards the end, but we prevailed.”
The undermanned Bees, minus first team regulars Tyson Sheills and Dave Kelly, covered their losses to claim three of the four rinks.
Barker (up by 10), Mick O’Neil (five) and Peter Ware (one) were the winning rinks.
Veteran Vito Loguisto was handed a top side debut, performing to expectation after a starring role in the second side in recent weeks.
There was also a message in his promotion.
“You’ve just got to reward them,” Barker said.
“You can’t have blokes playing in the top side that are playing bad when there’s blokes in the second side playing good and asking, ‘Why am I not getting a go?’”
