Sanctuary Lakes takes a new name

Sanctuary Lakes Football Club will undergo a major re-branding in time for the 2018 Western Region Football League season.

The Sharks nickname and logo will remain, but the club will be known as Point Cook Centrals from next season.

The change of name was mooted at multiple special general meetings in June and was put to a vote in August.

The members voted overwhelmingly to adopt the new name.

“We would like the community of Point Cook to feel more involved and connected to our football club, not just our current members and partners who are already rusted-on members that are connected to our young club,” Sharks president Gavin Young said.

“We believe that this change in name is also a change in direction to become a more inclusive community-based club.”
