Point Cook soul singer Ashleigh Watson has released her debut single and music video.

Watson, 27, said she recorded Little Love in Los Angeles last year with producer Warren Huart, who has worked with artists including Aerosmith, James Blunt and The Fray.

“The best part was hearing my song come to life – it went from a demo to a real song,” she said. “I would describe Little Love as a retro soul song all about only having small affairs in love and never finding your one big love.”

The film clip for Little Love was filmed in Lara in January.

“I always knew I wanted to be a singer, since about the age of six,” Watson said.

“I remember singing for ‘show and tell’ each week, to the point where my prep teacher told me to choose something else to present.”

Watson said she was planning to record an EP with Huart later this year.

She has launched an online Kickstarter campaign for the project.

“Being an independent artist can make it really tough to fund a project like this,” she said.
