Werribee City’s winning run has come to an end in the National Premier League 2 west soccer.

The Bees’ four-game win streak was halted with a 1-0 loss to Ballarat City on the road at Morshead Park stadium on Saturday night.

A penalty goal from Michael Trigger in the 18th minute secured all three points for the home side.

It was a blow to the Bees’ promotion hopes, but they are still in the mix, just six points behind second-placed Moreland Zebras.

The Bees will host Sunshine George Cross in a crucial game at Galvin Park on Sunday.

Hoppers Crossing remains chained to bottom spot in men’s state league 1 after a 2-0 loss to Yarraville Glory. The Reds have a massive six points to make up on sides above the relegation zone.

Truganina Hornets overcame Surf Coast 3-2 in a thriller in men’s state league 4.
