FFV: Truganina keep clean sheet over Altona North

TRUGANINA put the disaster of seven days earlier behind them with a
1-0 win over Altona North in the Football Federation Victoria men’s
state league 5 west.

A week after conceding six goals to the Brimbank Stallions, the
Hornets tightened up their defensive line to achieve a clean sheet for
only the third time this season.

Lulzim Bahtiri scored the game’s only goal in the first half – his
first in the seniors this season after scoring four times in the
reserves.

The Hornets face a stern test away to the fifth-placed Sebastopol Vikings on Saturday.

Point Cook is still alive in the promotion race after a 3-1 win over Lara at Saltwater Reserve.

Laurent Etienette fired in a double for the third-placed Jets.

The Jets will make the short trip to Altona North on Saturday.

In state league 1, Werribee City played out a nil-all draw with
Moreland Zebras, a result that did little favours for both sides’ title
aspirations.

The Bees are four points off the pace, despite top-of-the-ladder
Heidelberg United dropping all three points to second-placed Sunshine
George Cross.

The 19th round shapes as a must-win for the Bees in a blockbuster against Altona Magic at Galvin Park on Sunday.
