Wrap your head around these Christmas wrapping alternatives

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and that means you’re probably reaching for the wrapping paper after ducking out to the shops to tick some things off your list.

But instead of buying endless rolls of colourful paper, most of which will go to landfill, Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group president David Gormley-O’Brien has a range of suggestions for more environmentally friendly alternatives.

“With wrapping, parents of kids at primary school have lots of painting and drawings done in class, and they can use that as a lovely wrapping paper,” he said.

“Also when someone gives us a gift in a bag, we keep it so we can use it again when giving a present to someone else.”

Mr Gormley-O’Brien said newspaper can be a great alternative in place of store-bought wrapping paper.
