For budding young writers in Wyndham, the Imagination Creation Young Writers Group is the place to hone their creative skills.

The workshops run at the Werribee Library, and participating kids can share inspiration with other young writers in a social environment while also learning writing tips from published author Margaret Campbell, who facilitates the group.

Librarian Sarah said primary school-aged pupils can attend the free weekly sessions.

“Children gain confidence sharing their writing skills and asking questions about their writing. They chat and laugh about their ideas in a supported environment,” Sarah said.

“Margaret Campbell is able to share her insights and experiences as a writer, helping children build on their ideas using a variety of writing prompts, activities and examples to express themselves.

Sarah said children in the municipality are able to connect with other kids who share the same interests, and enjoy the library space.

“They are encouraged to form positive associations between books, writing, reading and using the library space.”

Social distancing is encouraged during the program and masks will be provided if participants cannot social distance.

The Werribee library is located in the Wyndham Cultural Centre and sessions run on Thursdays from 4.30-5.30pm
