Works to improve car park

The Ace carpark near Williams Landing train station, which often becomes waterlogged in wet weather, is being upgraded.
Ace Parking last week issued a statement on the works, which said: “In light of the significant rain events we have experienced in the area, we are currently undertaking significant improvement works to both carparks to improve the surface and customer experience.”
The first stage of the works was completed in the larger area of the car park across the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
“This included re-grading the carpark surface for better drainage and installing new fencing throughout to improve delineation of parking areas and driveways, as well as increase capacity,” the statement said.
“The second stage of these works is scheduled to take place over the Easter Break in the overflow car park (behind the Target offices).
“This will include re-grading the carpark surface for better drainage, replacement of bay markings and installation of fencing to also improve delineation of parking areas and driveways, as well as increase capacity.”
Commuter Igor Dejanovic captured this image of flooding at the Williams Landing car park last month.
Star Weekly published the photo on social media last week, which prompted many readers to comment that the carpark was actually built upon a flood plain.
“I walk past most days and will say that the water takes days to drain away after rain,” Emily wrote.
“It was still like that 3-4 days after the last rainfall.”
John posted: “AND they want people to use Public Transport … So why don’t they provide the appropriate infrastructure … and then it, (public transport), might just get used … until then, the status quo will apply.”
