The annual Midsumma Festival will arrive in Wyndham this month to celebrate the municipality’s LGBTIQ community.
Wyndham’s cultural diversity portfolio holder, Cr Henry Barlow, said two free, family-friendly events would be held as part of the festival, featuring top-quality entertainment and locally-made food.
The first event, Park Lounge, will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 5- 9pm in Kelly Park, Werribee.
Cr Barlow said attendees could expect a “stunning” line-up of artists, performers, cabaret divas, musicians and tasty Sri Lankan food.
The acts will include theatrical group PO PO MO CO, which will present Once Upon a Drag Storytime, a highly-energised comedy which celebrates gender and diverse families.
The second Midsumma event to be held in Wyndham will be the Out is Out exhibition, which will be on display at the Wyndham Art Gallery until from Thursday, February 6 to March 8.
The exhibition contains work by people who paved the way for LGBTIQ self-expression and freedom, and a new generation of activists.
The Wyndham Art Gallery, which is located at 177 Watton Street, Werribee, is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and weekends from 11am to 4pm.
