A worker from the Donut King outlet at Pacific Werribee has tested positive to COVID-19, according to a memo sent to the shopping centre’s other retailers.
The memo, which was dated June 6, said that Donut King is working with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in regards to the matter.
The letter said the Donut King employee last worked on Wednesday, July 1, and tested positive on Sunday, July 5.
The Donut King is undertaking a deep clean and will be closed until further notice.
Pacific Werribee centre manager, Patricia Gardiner, confirmed that a tenant of the centre has advised that one of its staff members has tested positive for COVID-19.
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers, retailers, staff, contractors and suppliers at Pacific Werribee is
always our overriding priority and we take this notification extremely seriously,” Ms Gardiner said.
“Pacific Werribee and the tenant are working closely with the DHHS and are following their advice in how to respond to this matter.
“This includes taking steps to understand who may have been in recent contact with the person who tested positive so DHHS can contact tracing and undertaking a deep clean of the tenancy with high-grade disinfectant.”
Ms Gardiner said that Pacific Werribee would continue to carry out a range of in-centre initiatives to help mitigate infection transmission risk.
“We are doing everything we can to help keep our community safe, and among other measures, this
includes increased cleaning rotations to strengthen the focus on disinfecting commonly touched areas with high-grade disinfectant, placement of permanent hand sanitisation stations at key points throughout the Centre, and a centre-wide signage campaign design to remind our community how to keep safe and protect others during this challenging time,” she said.
“We encourage anyone that is feeling unwell and suspects they may have symptoms of COVID-19 to self-isolate and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
“Pacific Werribee remains open and trading, serving the everyday and essential needs of our local
community.”
