Wyndham’s top tourist attractions are getting rave reviews on the popular travel website TripAdvisor.

According to the users of site, who can leave reviews of places they have visited, the top three attractions in Wyndham are the Werribee Open Range Zoo, the Victoria State Rose Garden and Werribee River Park.

The park, which includes the Werribee Mansion, has more than 300 reviews on TripAdvisor. It also has an average rating of 4.5 stars out of five.

A reviewer said the mansion – part of which is now a hotel and spa run by the Lancemore Group – was an “incredible restoration of this magnificent site”.

The Werribee Zoo, which had more than 1340 reviews on the TripAdvisor page, also had an average rating of 4.5 stars.

One visitor described the zoo as “A slice of Africa – in Australia”, while another said, “It’s a zoo without feeling like a zoo.”

The Victoria State Rose Garden attracted plenty of fans too, with 233 reviews and a 4.5-star rating for its “riot of beautiful colour”.

The RAAF Museum in Point Cook, with 123 reviews and a four-star rating, was praised as a “military aviation heaven”.

The Point Cook Homestead placed fifth on the TripAdvisor list with 41 reviews and Wyndham Harbour sixth with 15 reviews.

Wyndham council’s tourism and major events portfolio holder Cr John Gibbons said it was wonderful to see the area’s icons were attracting travellers from around the world.

“Recent studies have found that Wyndham’s tourism precinct attracts more than 1.1 million people and contributes more than $224 million towards Victoria’s economy every year,” Cr Gibbons said. “We are extremely lucky to have so many amazing and diverse attractions right on our doorstep.”

Cr Gibbons said the council produced a Werribee, Point Cook and Surrounds Visitors Guide every year.
