Empowering women from all backgrounds will be the focus of a Werribee get-together this weekend.
Women of Wyndham, a support and networking group aimed at enhancing confidence and sparking empowerment, will host its annual celebration at Suzanne Cory High School on Saturday.
Group president Monica Raizada says men, women and children are invited to attend.
“One feature is a pageant, the Miss/Mrs WOW Walk, which isn’t a beauty pageant but about enhancing confidence and leading to empowerment by walking on stage,” Ms Raizada said.
Multicultural dances and food, and other pageants will also feature.
The group was founded to provide a platform for Wyndham women to network, discuss community matters, promote equality among men and women, and tackle family violence.
Ms Raizada said the group provided support to women of varied cultural backgrounds who experienced family violence by referring them to appropriate agencies for further assistance. The group also offers financial advice and emotional and mental support. All funds raised from Saturday’s event will go to family violence prevention programs. The celebration will be held on Saturday from 5pm in the Suzanne Cory High School auditorium.
