Werribee River Association celebrates milestone

The Werribee River Association commemorated a milestone with the launch of a new history book.

40 Years of Waterways Protection 1981-2021 will highlight the many people that have cared for the Werribee River.

The book was researched and written by the WRA’s manager Lisa Field, and features editorial support from Werribee riverkeeper John Forrester and former committee member Heather Noble.

“It’s that sort of philosophy where you acknowledge by looking at your history, you can learn from your past and plan for the future,” Ms Field said.

“The event went really well…it was just amazing to have all these original guys come back, and share stories and reflect on how things were like.”

The launch was hosted at the Werribee City Centre on Saturday, August 6 after 40th anniversary celebrations were halted due to the lockdown in 2021.
