A team of Werribee Mercy Hospital employees is doing their bit to help fit out the hospital’s planned critical care unit.
Vicki Catalfamo and her colleagues have spent the past few months hosting Bunnings barbecues, cake stalls and Easter raffles, raising more than $13,000 in the process.
Next up, the team will be hosting an already sold-out fashion show at Hotel 520, with a parade of outfits from Werribee’s Tonia T Boutique, a live auction and DJ.
Ms Catalfamo hopes the fundraiser will add another $5000 to their efforts.
“It’s our heart and soul here at Werribee Mercy – it’s not just a job,” she said.
The CCU is part of an $85 million state government-funded hospital upgrade that will include eight critical care beds, 56 inpatient beds and six operating theatres over four storeys at the northern end of the hospital, above the Catherine McAuley Centre.
The hospital will be six storeys once works are complete.
Earlier this year, the Werribee Hospital Foundation and the Mercy Health Foundation created an appeals committee to raise $2 million over the next 18 months to fit-out the new critical care unit.
