Call out for young business guns

Amanda Newton.

Amanda Newton knows what it’s like to be a young business owner.

The Werribee resident was only 26 when she entered into a partnership with her father Ron Holman and fellow tax practitioner Kim Deneys to open Negotiis, which offers a range of accountancy and business advisory services.

So when the time came to give feedback on the Wyndham Business Awards, Ms Newton didn’t hesitate to suggest a new category for young entrepreneurs.

The council approved of the suggestion and this year, Negotiis is sponsoring the first-ever young entrepreneur award at this year’s Wyndham Business Awards.

“I understand what it’s like to be a young person in the business community … it’s very hard for a young person in an awards scenario to come up against people that are more experienced and have had businesses for 25 years.

“They’re in different spaces, but they’re actually both doing amazing things.”

Star Weekly is the media partner for the 2017 Wyndham Business Awards.

Entries and nominations are being accepted until June 16, with award categories for home-based, logistics, manufacturing, new and emerging, personal services, professional services, retail, tourism and hospitality, trades and other services, excellence in innovation, excellence in sustainability, young entrepreneur of the year, business person of the year and business of the year.
