Vandals strike college twice

Police have interviewed a 13-year-old boy in relation to two alleged break-ins at Alamanda College in Point Cook last month.

Detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) said the Point Cook boy had been released, pending further inquiries.

The CIU is investigating two break-ins which occurred at the college on December 14 and December 30.

Police said they were still waiting to interview a second youth who was allegedly involved in one or both of the break-ins.

During the incidents, furniture within school buildings was “tossed around”.

Beverages were also tipped over the inside of school buildings and a fire extinguisher was set off.

Star Weekly contacted the school but a college representative declined to comment.

However, on January 19, the school’s official Facebook page posted that there had been “several break-in or vandalism attempts these last weeks”.

Another post, the following day, said that the school had hired security guards in an effort to deter further break-ins.
