Truganina South Primary has been selected as one of the Victorian recipients of developers Cedar Woods’ community grants program.
The funding aims to support local groups, organisations and small businesses by providing financial assistance.
Truganina South Primary is one of nine recipients in Wyndham and Whittlesea to share in $30,000 worth of funding.
Last year, the school had to halt plans to create an outdoor learning space for students, after allocated funding fell short.
Principal Linda Danese said Cedar Woods’ grant would help bring those plans back to life, and enable them to create a dedicated outdoor learning environment after two years of remote learning.
“Because of the generosity of Cedar Woods, we will be able to fully complete works on our outdoor space and install tables and create areas where students can work and learn outdoors,” says Ms Danese.
“This outdoor space will give our students more learning spaces and bring our families together in a place where they can meet, greet and mingle.”
The grants program is in its 14th year and Cedar Woods’ chief operation officer patrick Archer said it was integral in seeing thriving and vibrant communities.
“We recognise that local groups are the heart and soul of a community, and it is an honour to support them through the Community Grants program,” says Mr. Archer.
