Trio charged after stolen car followed by Air Wing

Police have charged two teenage girls from Wyndham after an allegedly stolen car was followed by the Air Wing in Melbourne’s western suburbs over the weekend.

Police sighted the Honda on the Western Highway at Rockbank about 12.45am on Sunday, October 8.

The car had allegedly been stolen in a burglary at Aintree about 9.30pm on Saturday night.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but it sped off and was followed by the Air Wing.

The Honda was allegedly seen driving erratically at speeds up to 160km/h before it was dumped in Sheahan Crescent, Hoppers Crossing.

Three people fled the scene on foot but were arrested nearby a short time later.

A 16-year-old Truganina girl was charged with burglary, theft of motor vehicle and bail offences and remanded to face a children’s court at a later date.

A 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing girl was charged with burglary, theft of motor vehicle and bail offences to face a children’s court at a later date.

A 15-year-old Fitzroy girl was given a caution and released.
