The families and friends of four young men killed in a Truganina car accident on Thursday have paid tribute to the boys.

Police and other emergency services attended the scene after a vehicle containing six youths and a small truck travelling along Dohertys Road collided near Forsyth Road about 7.30pm.

Two of the youths died at the scene and two others died on arrival at hospital.

The car’s other occupants remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital for observation.

Major Collison Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Cousins Ilyas Abdullahi, 15, and Saeed Hussen, 17, were among the boys who lost their lives, along with 16-year-old Kevin ‘Memo’ Reech and a fourth boy named Dhual, also aged 16.

The family of Saeed and Ilyas has issued a statement saying they are “mourning the tragic passing” of the two young men.

“To think about life without them is so painful, but we are using this moment to remember them for kind smiles, warm hearts and friendly nature,” the statement read.

“We ask for space as we grieve during this most difficult of times – and our thoughts are with the other families who are grieving with us.”

A GoFundMe fundraiser set up on behalf of the family has raised $46,777, with more than 950 people donating to help cover the costs of the boys’ funerals and to build a water well in their memory.

The page has set a total fundraising goal of $60,000.

A fundraising page has also been set up for Dhual’s funeral costs. It has also almost reached its $10,000 fundraising goal.

The page reads: “Dhual will be remembered as warm-hearted, outgoing, humorous person who always entertained everyone and put a smile on our faces.

“We will remember his laugh, his jokes, his personality, his kind nature, his love for his family and siblings and most importantly the significant legacy he left on everyone he met.”
