Three Wyndham women will be shooting for the top spot when they contest an international competition, the Universal Trench World Championships, later this year.
Georgia Pistone, Alexis Preston and Anna Shedrina – who all train and compete at the Werribee Victorian Clay Target Club – have been selected to represent Australia in the 2019 Universal Trench World Championships to be held in France during August.
Ms Shedrina said she started “serious” competition shooting in her mid-twenties, and has not looked back since, winning a number of state, national and international medals in the clay target shooting disciplines.
“I also run a successful business [Bronze Wing Ammunition] which operates in our industry – supplying clay target clubs and shops with clay targets, clay target throwing machines and shotgun cartridges – with our business being the sole supplier of these products for last year’s Gold Coast Commonwealth Games,” she said.
Ms Shedrina said she and Ms Preston, 18, had previously competed together.
“Alexis was my teammate when we took out the ladies’ team gold medal at the 2016 UT [Universal Trench] World Championships in Morocco,” Ms Shedrina said.
Meanwhile, the upcoming competition in France will be the first time that Georgia, 15, represents Australia.
