A charity dance gala to be held in Hoppers Crossing later this year is aiming to raise $50,000 for a worthwhile cause.

Avalon Dance Stars on the Floor will see well-known Wyndham identities paired with top ballroom dancers, who will train them in routines to be performed on Friday, July 19 at the Encore Events Centre.

One of the gala organisers, Heather Marcus, said the Wyndham “dance stars” would fundraise in the lead-up to the event, with all money they raised to go to the Mental Health Foundation Australia and efforts to prevent youth suicide, especially within the Wyndham area.

Ms Marcus said that Chris MacGregor, of MacGregor Logistics – a national logistics business based in Melbourne’s west – had already donated $10,000 towards the $50,000 fundraising goal.

She said the dance star who raised the most money in the lead-up to the gala would receive a trophy, and that there would also be a trophy for the Best Dance Star.

Ms Marcus said that around 800 members of the public were expected to buy tickets to attend the gala.
