A Cambridge Primary School teacher who promised each of his pupils a ‘happy meal’ if the Western Bulldogs won this year’s AFL premiership has had to eat his words.

Diehard Bulldogs supporter David Jarred has made the same bet with his class every year for the past 25 years – and this time, he’s had to pay up.

Mr Jarred took all 23 of his grade 5 pupils to McDonald’s at Hogans Corner, Hoppers Crossing, recently to buy every student a happy meal.

“I’ve been saying it for 25 years and it’d never happened,” he said.

“I’m so happy to be able to finally share the joy. I’ve been waiting for this day a long time.”
