Tarneit market magic

The first Makers and Growers market showcasing local arts, crafts, food and produce was held in Tarneit on Saturday, January 29.

The markets will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month until June 25, rotating amongst the three community centres in Tarneit.

The markets are part of the Meet me in Tarneit program, which features several events planned for the first half of 2022, including movie and live music nights.

The events are being delivered by Wyndham council in partnership with the state government and the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board.

Stallholder applications for the markets are now open.

Wyndham mayor Peter Maynard said the events would bring the community together and support local businesses.

“This is a great opportunity for local creative businesses to sell their products in the local community,” Cr Maynard said.

“There are no stallholder fees and marquees will be supplied, so if you’re a local maker or grower I encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity.”

The outdoor movie nights will feature family-friendly movies screened in Tarneit’s parks with deck chairs, popcorn, refreshments and roving entertainment.

On Saturday, January 15, Space Jam: A New Legacy will be screened from 5–8pm at Baden Powell Reserve (with the movie set to start at 6pm).

Attendees are encouraged to a picnic and a rug.

Come early to play Nintendo on the big screen.

BYO basketball to have a bounce on the basketball court.

Dr Hubble, Australia’s favourite bubbleman, will be there blowing giant bubbles.

All the Meet me in Tarneit events are free but bookings are essential, as numbers are capped due to COVIDSafe requirements.

Attendees must comply with all state government COVID-19 restrictions.

They will also be required to check in using the Service Victoria app and show proof of vaccination prior to entering the event sites.

Alcohol and smoking are not permitted at any of the Meet me in Tarneit events.
