Burlesque, Blues Brothers and talking botany will all take centre stage at the Sunday Movie Club in Werribee.
The program, which is running at the Wyndham Cultural Centre this year, involves cult movies being shown alongside live dance sequences, sing-alongs, costume competitions, props, drag queens and madcap MCs.
The ‘hostess with the mostest’, Ira Luxuria – a finalist in this year’s Miss Burlesque Victoria – leads the fun.
Ms Luxuria said audience members would be encouraged to shout their favourite lines and throw popcorn at the movie villains.
“We all have those movies that make us sing, dance and swash-buckle from our seats,” she said.
“Sunday Movie Club will be a movie screening, a party and an adventure to another world all at once.
“I can’t wait to see our audiences dress up and come along for the ride with us.”
On Sunday, April 28 at 7pm, Little Shop of Horrors – a film adaptation of the off-Broadway musical comedy about a florist shop worker who finds out his Venus flytrap can speak – will be shown at the cultural centre.
On June 9, a chorus of burlesque performers, including Ms Luxuria and Stella Del Lure, will entertain the crowd while Chicago is screened.
Other upcoming movies include Princess Bride on July 14, The Blues Brothers on August 18 and Labyrinth on September 22.
