A store which has been operating in Werribee for 18 years is set to get a facelift.

Discount grocery store NQR opened in Watton Street during March 2001.

The chain, which began in 1987, was purchased by Tradeorigins Pty Ltd last May after several months in administration. The purchase ensured that 160 jobs across Victoria were saved and that 14 stores stayed open.

Tradeorigins chief executive Ewan Jones said the company was excited to be re-launching the Werribee store.

“With the new look and new design, we can offer our shoppers and greater community more variety,” he said.

Not many details have been released about the store upgrade, but a media release said NQR Werribee would be “trialling the new invested ideas of the new management, creating a more efficient way customers can shop and save in store”.

The official relaunch of the store will be at 8.30am on Wednesday, May 1, and will be attended by Wyndham mayor Mia Shaw.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a barbecue held by a local sports group and have their photo taken with the store’s mascot, NQR Man.
