Sneydes Road in Point Cook will be closed this weekend as significant road rehabilitation work is conducted.
Works will occur on approximately 500 metres of the road between Hoppers Lane (east of the Princes Freeway) and Hacketts Road.
The works require the closure of Sneydes Road from 10pm on Friday, March 24 to 5am Monday, March 27..
Crews will work continuously from Friday night until Monday morning, when traffic volumes are significantly lower, to ensure the project is finished with minimal disruption to the community.
These works will involve a full rehabilitation of the road, including stabilising the lower layer to make the foundation stronger and more water resistant, along with sealing the road to restore the condition of the road surface.
Motorists should allow up to 20 minutes extra for the detours that include the Princes Freeway, Point Cook Road, Boardwalk Boulevard, Dunnings and Hacketts roads.
Those wishing to reach the Princes Freeway from Point Cook can use the ramps at Boardwalk Boulevard, Point Cook or Duncans roads.
Local access will be maintained for residents near the works area.
Heavy vehicles need to detour via Point Cook, Aviation and Duncan roads.
A Department of Transport and Planning spokesperson said these works were vital to ensure Sneydes Road can continue to function as a key freight and travel route for commuters and businesses in the Point Cook and Werribee areas.
“Every day, more than 18,000 drivers rely on Sneydes Road to connect them to education, employment, family and friends.”
“Crews will stabilise the lower layer to make the foundation stronger and more water resistant to make the road last longer as well as seal the road for a smoother journey.”
